The War

Like a lot of Israelis, I wish this one hadn't started. It has and I hope we're not looking at a slow motion action reply of the 2006 war with Hezbollah.

Sad times

The Eggheads , having been to the farewell party for my now defunct workplace are bitterly disappointed to find that the latest effort to bring peace to the Middle East has been abandoned.

Yes it's true, 'World Orgasm Day ' has been canceled in Tel Aviv due to unspecified security threats. Boo hiss. Read the link . Not suitable for viewing anyplace.

Bush pardons convicted USA citizen for helping Israel

For those who forget or who never knew , the USA had an arms embargo on Israel. The early wars were fought with Soviet weapons and British and French arms.
Spare a thought for Charles Winters who did jail time for Israel.

Happy Christmas

The Eggheads will be merry and I hope you will be too.

Work

In short, my company is about to close. This makes the fifth time since I came to Israel and I'm beginning to think it's me. Currently, we're all waiting for the official word and having a party.

A long time

It has been a while since I blogged. Work has taken over my life and in these days, I'm very grateful to have one. Given the volume of news, both in Israel , the UK and the world and my own life it's had to know where to start.

Over breakfast with friends yesterday, the question of the forthcoming elections in Israel came up. After a collective list of the parties the group would not vote for, there was a pause when we realised there wasn't anybody we would vote for. This is not good.

'Obama too British' case rejected

Obama too British? He was born in Hawaii which was USA terrority the last time I looked. His Kenyan father is not relevant as the USA constitution is very clear on this point. To be President, you have to be born there and he was.

It's the anniversary of the Kindertransport. Thousands of Jewish children were transported to the UK and given homes and a life.

Civil war?

Is it? A group of Israelis determined to live out their lives as a Historical Recreation Society defy the state and the security services. The state struggles but can't put it down. This is the beginnings of a long period of conflict, this time between Jews. If Hamas was smart they would stop shooting and watch us fall apart all by ourselves.

Hebron struggle is justified, we won't restrain our youths

The title says it all. It is legitimate for Jewish settlers to use violence to achieve their political ends. It is not legitimate for Palestinians to do the same. Israelis are very familiar with hypocrisy and it doesn't seem to bother them.

I quote Ynet news and an IDF source.

"The events in Hebron are riots, plain and simple. The damage caused to the Muslim graveyard, and the graffiti on the walls of mosques throughout Judea and Samaria – they shame and disgrace us as Jews," a senior IDF officer belonging to the army's Central Command told Ynet on Tuesday evening following a particularly violent day in Hebron.

Even worse

One of the unstated goals of the Mumbai terrorists was to destablise relations between India and Pakistan. It looks like they're getting there. Reducing society to chaos and offering stability under their unenlightened terms worked in Aghamistan, Sudan and Somalai. It mustn't happen in two nuclear armed states.
