Not a surprise
Just for the record , Olmert has decided to go but in his own sweet time. It has occurred to the leaders of the various factions that their mandate from the people of Israel has expired. As the MKs seem to be superglued into their Knesset chairs I guess we'll have to wait until 2010 for new elections.

Another Jordan valley settlement?
The two state solution is dead. Welcome to the one state solution where the Jewish people will be in a minority.

Hiatus
Slow posts... I been spending too much time in Afula hospital. The two family members are recovering and expected to do well. One, a Palmach veteran, suffered a heart attack, got on his tractor and drove to the nurse. Aged 81.

Israel surrenders
Today Israel formally surrenders to Hezbollah. I am ashamed to be an Israeli. The very clear message from the Israeli people and it's government is that the 119 Israelis soldiers who died during the Second Lebanese War are unimportant and irrelevant. The 44 dead Israeli citizens died for nothing.

Silly season
I love the silly season. In Israel it's known as cucumber time when silly and outrageous items appear in the media for want of anything better to fill the column inches. Never mind the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan or our own home brewed silliness.
Here's a church in the USA that thinks it's cool to give away a AR15 during a youth conference. Still, that rifle is so old it might be an antique.

7 July 2005 London bombings
It's three years since a group of British Muslim extremists murdered 52 people in London and injured 700 others. I will remember even if the media doesn't.
Many of the casualties (dead and injured) were foreign nationals, including people from Sierra Leone, Australia, Bangladesh, South Africa, Colombia, Poland, Romania, New Zealand, Israel, Iran, Mauritius, Turkey, Afghanistan and China.

At least two dead, dozens hurt in Jerusalem terror attack - Haaretz - Israel News
This terrorist attack hurt me more than most.
Mandela off U.S. terrorism watch lists
I would like to congratulate the USA on its brave and controversial decision to remove Nelson Mandela from US terrorism lists. This active octogenarian has been an active proponent of universal suffrage, human rights and is a convicted criminal. No doubt we will live to see Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and many others removed from the UK "no-fly" list.

Windows XP's last hurrah
Windows XP, which I know as NT 5.1 finally stops being officially sold as of today. For those who do not want to move to Vista (a.k.a NT 6) local suppliers in Israel can still sell you a new PC/Laptop with a legal version of Windows XP whilst stocks last. Buy now or regret.
I'll stick with XP until retirement. For those who might consider this a touch overblown, please read this article from the Inquirer quoted by the New York Times. Well, if Intel don't plan to use Vista on it's corporate machines why would you?
