Israel
For those of you who dislike the two state solution, perhaps consider that it's a lot better than the one state solution which appears to be the only alternative.

Deep Falafel
A long discussion this morning with Deep Falafel. Intense talks about the advisability of Israel hitting Iran by itself.
My own viewpoint , as I passed the now solid High School teachers on strike is that Israel has enough enemies on it's doorstep. Uniting the Iranian people by attacking Iran makes no sense when the military consensus appears to be that Iran can be delayed but it can't be stopped short of all out war.
It would be nice if Israel could pay teachers a little bit more than supermarket shelf packers. I realise this is a minority viewpoint.

Life in Israel - Part TBD
It's official. Price controls on bread have finally disappeared. I'm amazed it lasted for so long. What various governments were thinking of is beyond me.
Somehow, I feel we still fighting the 1948 War of Independence. It's taking a while though.

Shoah studies
What do people I know to be intelligent keep sending me chain emails containing complete rubbish?
The continuing "UK stops Shoah studies to avoid upsetting Muslim students" is wrong. I would like to point out that key historical events like the Crusades are treated differently from I was at school but that's because we're embarrassed about it.
Try this MP3 for something that will bring tears to your eyes.

Thanks
I would like to say thanks to the Israeli night -running club for their timely help last night. Having 40 people push back my grounded Ford Focus is greatly appreciated. Digging it out of the sand I ended up in was proving too much and I was contemplating sleeping in the car.
I would also like to say 'Hi' to the very stupid bastard in the Toyota SUV who put me there in the first place. I hope your wheels fall off when you're asleep.

Hunkering down
Whilst the general population continue to go about their lives and ignore the summit that's coming up it might be worth mentioning the IHT/New York Times article about why Condi spends so much time over here.
I won't provide a link. Google will work just as well for you as me. Now the difficult question. What do Saudi Arabia and Israel have in common?

Ummm..
The Edmonds didn't go to the Rabin rally this year. We contemplating other things. I watched the coverage of the Beitar Jerusalem game on Ha'Aretz TV and I seriously wonder about the future of this country.
I really miss Guy Fawkes night.

Life in Israel - Part 1224 subsection a
Having a company car is a big thing here. After a long struggle with myself and that small insistent voice that appears to be my conscience I finally gave up and sold my beloved Opel Astra. (yes, I know, all right, Right Pondians will snigger). I then received a succession of temporary lease cars running through the normal range until I arrived at what appears to be the one I keep. A Ford Focus.
I sort of enjoyed the Mitsubishi which was new when I got it. The right front passenger compartment got steadily wetter then moved to damp down the rear right carpet section. A detailed investigation found that the air conditioning drain was connected inside the car rather than outside which provided an ever growing and expanding ecosphere which I watched with interest until they took it away.
Shame about the fungus. It could have been a new species.

Back where I belong
After an extended blogging break I'm back. I think it was watching the Israeli film 'Beaufort' that did it. I'm sure you'll all be fascinated that there was was a German manufacturer of cars solely for the UK market called Beaufort. The Beaufort scale is well known as is the Bristol Beaufort, a British torpedo bomber.
The film was great. Go rent it out now or I'll come round your house and embarrass you.
