As we wake up to a 'truce' apparently agreed between Israel and the various factions of the Gaza strip, I am struck by one truth that shouts in my mind.
The IDF cannot protect Israel from it's enemies anymore - only a political solution will ever make this a reality.

Madness in Israel
It's a fifteen hour work day right now and I have no energy even to blog, never mind read other peoples blogs. Would the media here in Israel stop talking about Iran please? Israel can't and won't don't anything now. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is right, we're too weak and divided.
BTW, Firefox 2.0 with it's nifty polite spell checker suggested 'Shadinesses' for 'Ahmadinejad. Sounds good to me.

Oddly enough
Yes, I'm still here but working very hard. I don't even listen to the news or read the paper. Anything interesting happen?
I have also decided to write a book. Non fiction this time. I'll be popping in and out for the next year or so.

Back again
Back again. Lessons learnt. Travel very light. Very very light. A big thanks to Lufthansa for helping me out. Apart from a copany weekend coming I am staying home for a while while we talk very gently, but forcefully to the local council about planning permission for the house extension.

Security Notes Part 1
Note to Frankfurt airport security. I do not believe it is possible to do serious harm to an aircraft with a bottle of Sabra liqueur unless you persuade the pilot to drink it. I also accept that 100 milliliters means just that but some items such as toothpaste as sold by weight , just like the last tube you took from me. Toothpaste is denser than water and weighs more. Around 134 grams to be exact.
What do you do with all this stuff you take from passengers?

Back where I belog
A big round of applause for the baggage handlers at Tel Aviv that went on strike. My luggage stayed on the lovely Luftwaffe 747 that took us there from Frankfurt which took off again with my bags still on board. By the time I got home I was a gibbering collection of protoplasm loosely shaped into a caricature of a human being.

Done it
I managed it. Two weeks and I'm done for now. Another 27 hour travel stint with maybe one cigarette in Frankfurt and I'm home to rainy old Israel. Where do I buy sugar free Gummy bears? What are Gummy Bears anyway? Buying an iPod was a challenge.
