I bet Peres, in all his life, never imagined that he'd be ending his career supporting Arik Sharon. It even sounded strange on the news last night to hear him say that he was doing it!
What percentage do you reckon Peres's decision was 1) 'negative' eg 'after all I've done for the Labour party and Israel this is how they treat me; I'll show them' and 2) 'positive' eg 'it is time for a new approach to achieving peaceful coexistence with a Palestinian state'?
I'd say a combination of the first, plus he fact that he simply refuses to retire. Sharon seems willing to take him on board, and he'll take what he can get in order to continue pushing peace.

Ma baya? Wasn't this on the cards as part of the latest centrist project?

Sad. Very sad.
